Funeral  Arrangements in Austin

• If death is unexpected or unattended → Ensure emergency services notified: Call 911; Medical Examiner may need to release the body.

• Call the ICGA Funeral & Cemetery line (512-666-3389) during business hours; More info →  https://www.icgamuslimcemetery.org/

• The family must complete the Burial Intake Form with ICGA and provide required details (death certificate info, next of kin, ID).

• ICGA will assign a burial plot at the Austin Muslim Cemetery. The cemetery is located at 1920 County Line Road, Dale, Texas 78616

• Paperwork must be approved prior to accepting any body and assigning as grave site. ICGA can't start the process of burial without filing required legal paperwork.

Once the grave is assigned and paperwork is done, ICGA will arrange:

• Ghusl (washing)

• Kafan (shrouding)

• Salat al-Janazah (funeral prayer)

• Burial at Austin Muslim Cemetery

• Connect with the City of Austin Office of Vital Records to file the death certificate. Families should order multiple certified copies for legal/ financial use.

• Volunteers may assist with meals, logistics, or fundraising support for the family.
