1 February 2026 Family Halaqa with Sheikh Abdul Hakim
Indonesia is the world’s largest Muslim-majority nation, home to roughly 240+ million Muslims—about 87% of its population and ~12% of the world’s Muslims. With 17,000+ islands and a long tradition of Bhinneka Tunggal Ika (“Unity in Diversity”), Indonesia’s Islamic life is vibrant, diverse, and actively engaged in education, social development, and interfaith dialogue.
Over recent decades, Indonesians have come to the U.S. for study, work, and family. Indonesian Muslims are a small but dynamic part of America’s broader Muslim community, bringing a distinct blend of faith, culture, and community spirit.
In Greater Austin, our Indonesian community continues to grow - spread across Austin and surrounding areas. One of ongoing challenges is maintaining our identity and cultural heritage while engaging fully in Austin's diverse society; that calls for adaptive solutions that keep us grounded and connected.
We are committed to ensuring that the voice and presence of Indonesian Muslims are visible in community events, interfaith gatherings, and civic occasions. Even a brief prayer, reflection, or cultural contribution is a meaningful way to affirm who we are, strengthen bonds, and show that the Indonesian Muslim diaspora in Greater Austin is present, active, and contributing to the wider society. This commitment is proactive and collaborative: we seek opportunities, offer help, and engage partners with courtesy and clarity.
Our primary vision is to build a resilient Indonesian Muslim diaspora in Greater Austin. We strive to be steadfast in faith, excel in knowledge, and empower others while upholding an inclusive Islam that honors diversity. We aim to contribute positively to society through civic and moral responsibility.
